Vining Cherry Tomatoes

BLACK CHERRY

A sweet, productive heritage variety. Will produce from July to first frost if protected. The fruit colour deepens with increasing light levels.

Baselbieter ROETELI

A Swiss heritage variety, great for drying, good producers.

ciliegia red cherry

Ciliegia (which translates as cherry) is a red vining heirloom cherry that originated in Sicily. It is reputed to be the sweetest and most aromatic cocktail tomato variety of all. The small 2cm fruits will ripen early and produce throughout the summer.

GARDENER's DELIGHT

German heirloom red vining cherry that produces 2.5 - 3 cm fruit. Can be larger when the summer is cooler.

TOMMY TOE

Heritage vining cherry that originated in the Ozarks around 1900. Vigorous plants that don't mind heat and humidity to produce 2.5cm fruit.

BUSH Tomatoes for Sauce

CV LA ROMA

Mid season variety. Can be grown in large pots with a tomato cage as support. Will produce from mid-August up to first frost if protected. Elongated, medium size with a good taste. Great for making pasta sauce and salsa.

Vining Tomatoes for Sauce

POLISH paste

This good-tasting heirloom tomato from Poland that is great for processing. The Polish Paste tomato produces pear-shaped fruits 12-14 oz in weight and matures in about 90 days. Big indeterminate plants that will give generously if fed well. The flesh is dry, processes well and is a really excellent choice for the home canner.

OREGON SPRING

Early medium-sized and cold tolerant tomato. Avg. 6-7 oz. fruit. It gives a first-early harvest suitable for cooler, northern locations.

VALENCIA

A lovely low acid, sweet, yellow slicing tomato from Maine. 

Germination rate 83%. All Comox Valley Winner 2016. 

Beef Steak

Pink Giant

Early beef steak heritage tomato from the Ukraine. Up to 2 lbs or more in weight. Delicious as a slicing tomato or for pasta sauce and salsa. Will produce from mid-August up to first frost if protected.

CONTAINER TOMATOES

Over the last few years, the CV Seed Bank has been trialing various varieties of tomatoes that are suitable for growing in a container so that people who don't have lots of space can still grow tomatoes on their patio or veranda. This year we are offering some seeds from these trials at Seedy Saturday.

SLEEPING LADY

Sleeping Lady is a genetic dwarf, indeterminate plant that grows 3 feet tall and requires staking or a cage. The fruit is 3-6 oz. with a chocolate mahogany color and a delicious, rich flavor. It has a long harvest window, though most fruit ripens in Sept. It is prolific. Pruning is not required.

ARCTIC ROSE

Arctic Rose is a genetic dwarf plant that grows approximately 3 feet tall and requires staking or a cage. It produces mid-season to frost. The red/pink fruit is 3-8 oz. with a complex,  delicious flavor. The fruit is very attractive, with no cracking. Pruning is not required. 

MANITOBA

Manitoba is determinate (bush) heirloom slicing tomato that was developed in Manitoba to thrive in cool climates with a short season. Disease resistant, smooth red fruit, that is suited for slicing and preserving. It produces late.

MERVILLE ROCKET

Merville Rocket is a determinate early plant with 3-4 oz. round, red fruit that is sweet/tart in flavor. This high yielding bushy plant requires a cage for support. This variety originated in the Comox Valley.
